WAKE UP WITH DETERMINATION SO YOU CAN GO TO BED WITH SATISFICATION … DEBATE

If anyone would pose a question “who is the most intelligent learner at St Brendan’s” I would say “the Debaters” .Being a debate captain made me realise that everyone’s opinion could make a positive difference .For many people debate is viewed as a sport but to those who are part of it ,it holds weight. We get a chance to get enrolled in the mayor’s trophy debate competition every year. Having our two English teachers by our side we get the country without fear of censorship.

Our intelligence might not be in all aspects of our academic lives, Hence ask a grade 8 debater any governmental question and you will be surprised by the kind of answers that will come from the learner’s mouth. This year both the junior and senior debaters really worked but unfortunately the seniors could not reach the semi-finals. We are not giving up or loosing hope , believe it or not we are going to make it. Debate is fun , interesting and we learn a lot.

I enjoy the part where we have to stop at the complex before heading to the competition for a meal at KFC. It is not about going to a trip but more about exploring ideas. One thing I enjoy about debate is that it caters for different type of people and cultures, I mean we meat and debate and at the end of the day one team always has to lose but at least we learn something. We urge people to join our team, it is fun in the house
