All work no play makes bob a dull boy” sports plays an integral role in the growth and success of our academic learning. Sports for some of us has become a safe haven were we are free to express ourselves, without any fear of contradiction. The benefits that come with engaging in sports are limitless, only if you could see how my face lights up whenever the topic discussed is sports. At our school we have a variety of sports code like soccer, netball, board games and so fourth.
Sports has given us a platform outside of academics were we are able to show our potentials and that we are shinning stars. It has helped us to engage with different people of the same passion. Sports has taught us many lessons but the best one is “If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go further go together.
We put this into practice when St Brendan’s soccer boys team dominated and conquered in a tournament against PAX COLLAGE, ST BEDE’S AND ST PAUL’S. St Brendan’s is a multilingual school and we had to put our differences aside in order to work united. Tsonga, Pedi, Venda all speaking the same language of cheering and playing alongside each other, what a beautiful scenery to witness.
Two aspects that I would implement in the learning classroom is the ability to work well alongside one another and make learning as fun as putting the ball in the opponent’s net. I re-assure you that St Brendan’s is anything but short of potential in all areas of sports, debate, spelling bee and academics. It is in our blood to aim to “BETTER THE BEST’’ by Sir Watadza.
This article would not be complete without stating that “EFFORT AND PRAYER” by Sir Mohale are the fundamental aspects of our achievements. After all St Brendan’s learners are rooted to God above all else accompanied by work, success in inevitable. ROMANS 8:28
